ashleypoptodorovaKeymasterI am a firm believer that you are what you THINK! I have overcome so many tough things in my life and I believe that #1) the love of The Lord and #2) my positive mindset were both key components.
When I began my own personal journey, I was 208 pounds. At the time, I was engaged in a very abusive relationship, I had little tools, no gym membership and ZERO knowledge on nutrition.
What I did have, however, was my overwhelming desire to succeed and my positive mindset. YOU can achieve what you believe. Proverbs 23:7 says “as a man thinks in his heart, so is he”.
Iย began by telling myself that I COULD do it. I simply began by putting one foot in front of the other. I think that people put a lot of pressure to have to do everything “correctly” on this journey and there is no such thing. The biggest growth in my journey came from all of the mistakes and

ariahimarParticipantHi Ashley! I was talking to a co-worker last week and she asked how I started on the road to health and stayed motivated. I always tell people the truth, that some days are much harder than others and I have lied on the floor and cried because I wanted candy. Ha! That’s the truth! I told her that before I started to get healthy, I had a lot of regret after I ate. I would binge and then sit and hate myself. So when I started to change my life I would say to myself “I’m not going to regret this workout.” “I’m never going to regret eating this grilled chicken salad.” “I’m not going to regret not eating this candy.” And it worked! Slowly but surely, the regrets became further and further apart. That sinking feeling in my stomach and that feeling of failing myself started to fade until they became a distant memory. And now, almost three years in, if I slip up, I don’t regret it. I know the next meal will be clean and I don’t have to hate myself for one moment of weakness.

ariahimarParticipantOh! And when I feel like I just can’t go on but need to push myself during a workout I say “my body is capable of incredible things!” It works!

Elizabeth – Happy Healthy CaregiverParticipantLove all this wisdom! I’m struggling with emotional eating so I’m going to try your regret self talk. Thank you for sharing!

ashleypoptodorovaKeymasterYES! YES! YES! Aria… SPOT ON! I love this! It is not about a mindset of self pity or restriction .. its about a mindset of abundance and CAPABILITY! I used these techniques SO much in the beginning of my journey and I must say that rewiring our “stinking thinking” is the foundational component to success!!
Elizabeth, this all ties in with what I was telling you about looking at it from a different perspective. When you pass up the foods you crave it is more about a REWARD than a punishment… ๐
Love you ladies! PROUD OF YOU LADIES! LETS DO THIS!

ariahimarParticipantExactly Ashley! You get more flies with honey and that applies to you as well as the rest of the world . You have to be good to yourself! You won’t reach your goals if you’re talking down to yourself all day. Be your own biggest cheerleader even if you have to fake it at first.

ashleypoptodorovaKeymasterExactly right! I always use the analogy of being your own best friend b/c if you had a friend that constantly spoke to you like we often speak to ourselves, they would not be our friend for long! I remember one time CRYING MY EYES OUT and looking in the mirror repeating over and over and over…. “You are beautiful” and even though I did not believe it at the time, I do now. I believe that my heart and my efforts to love and help others is what makes me beautiful. It is not just about the ‘physical’ though this is what our society always promotes. We are all STUNNING. If you could see the good works of a person, their heart and their impact in this world on the OUTSIDE it would really reveal true beauty vs. beauty that fades.
Anyhow.. I love this and love ya’ll (uh oh! Is GA wearing off on me!?) LOL!

ashleypoptodorovaKeymasterHi guys! ๐
Just wanted to offer you a little motivation and encouragement as we start a BRAND NEW week! LAST WEEK IS OVER! If you messed up, dust yourself off and pick up in the right direction. As I explain to so many people, there is NO quick fix. It takes failing many times before we ever experience true success. My own journey to health included so many ups and downs. I struggled with food addiction, binging, severe cravings and so much more. No matter how many times I fell, I told myself I would not give up and that I WOULD WIN this battle with my health.
12 years later, it is a lifestyle. Not only this, it is one that is my Profession. There is reward in not giving up. This week, start fresh and know we are in this with you!Happy to have you here and SO proud of you all! Let me know how your week goes.
Love
Ash
