Hi Elizabeth,
GREAT question and yes, busy is always something we have to work around. Thanks for such a great post! 🙂 The key is to make sure you are always preparing your meals, snacks and options in advance. Its a choice that we make in this journey to not leave ourselves susceptible to food emergencies. If you are in these situations and not preparing in advance, many times you will give in to less than optimal choices.
My suggestions are to prep some of your meals & snacks in advance the night before which will help you be prepared for success the following day. I know this is a habit and one that requires us to carve out time but again, this is what this lifestyle is all about. Making the sacrifice in our time allowances to ensure we succeed.
I have some great recipes I will post for desserts & grain free cookies and brownies over on the Nutritional Forum. Making these in batches and storing them for use when you are ready will help greatly with overcoming some of these cravings. For instance, you could grab a few brownies (healthy, of course!) or cookies and pack them in a tupperware to take to work on days you know there will be extra temptations… hmmhhmm.. birthday cake, laying around! 😉
Other great options include:
*almond flour chicken tenders (these are so simple to make, I will post recipe on the forum soon with a link) for on the go lunch ideas
*Fresh mixed berries or strawberries for snacks throughout the day or by the pool with friends.
*Watermelon is always a much more hydrating healthy option than twirlers when hanging by the pool with friends
*Greek yogurt with stevia, fresh berries and nuts- this is a great snack or meal and very quick.
*Marys Gone Crackers and hummus are a great replacement for cheese and crackers at the work events
*Kombucka or Kevita makes a great substitute for wine at your book clubs – I have my favorites posted under the lifestyle section of this forum! 😉
This is a start but you’ve given me something good to think about! I will work on uploading some great recipes for you.
Above all remember this, its a choice to feed our bodies healthy. It is not always the most “convenient” option in the moment but the long term gains of reaching your goals, feeling good and overcoming are TOTALLY worth it! 🙂
SO PROUD OF YOU AND THANK YOU AGAIN FOR THE GREAT POST.
Ash
